JOSH BREIDBART
Josh Breidbart is a supple 19 year old boy (man?) who originates from Jericho, Long Island. He is about to enter his Junior year at Ithaca College as a major in scriptwriting, but he is still trying out new things as he goes (such as graphic design and video game developement). Josh is currently employed as an intern at Majesco Games (makers of Bloodrayne, Psychonauts, Jaws, and Advent Rising) and he couldn't be happier. He is also a 'Magic: the Gathering' player (I think I just heard a child cry) and a HUGE Guilty Gear head. He does everything on Fenix Gear, which is awesome (but also means he can't shift the blame if a comic is late or if the website explodes). If there were one word to describe Josh, it would be 'eccentric' (or 'Grabbajad'). Currently single and employed, one could say Josh Breidbart is the most ideal bachelor on the market, and quite possibly the sexiest man alive.
The History of Fenix Gear:
When I was in about 15, I came up with an odd idea, dealing with Gods, mythical creatures, redemption and talking swords. This was the original idea for Fenix Gear (but not called it at the time). Originally about a man who ruled as an evil dictator (think Hitler) with his shape shifting female clown compainion (*caugh*). He is then given a second lease on life to correct his wrongs. I wanted to undertsand where the bad guy was coming from so I could develop him as a more fleshed out character, so I decided to write from the falling of his rule until his ultimate redemption. Well, as I fleshed out his story, I started finding another one. One that I liked alot more. This was the story of Leylie and Zoe. Leylie was originally set to be the lover trying to help reclaim the good in him, and eventually, die in the process. However, I started fleshing out where I wanted Leylie and her companion Zoe to go. Eventually I scrapped the original story almost all together. I created a new story based on the previous one. Leylie AND Zoe were the main characters in a story about friendship, mistakes, laughter, and midget assasins. I finally had 'Fenix Gear.' Unfortunately, I had no outlet for the Gear. And I couldn't verbalize what I wanted to show in just words. So, for years, Fenix Gear sat on a shelf in my mind.
That was until I met Jim Whaley.
I first met Jim in anime club and begain to read his webcomics. Good stuff. It was then I had an idea. He was looking for a new project and I was looking for an outlet. So, after a little buttering up, we decided to go into business together: he would do the art and website, and I would create the scripts and storyline. Fenix Gear was going online! Things were working well...until Jim had to graduate. Knowing this, he slowly trained me in editing my comics, how to format them and maintain the website as a whole. After a few months, I was drawing and writing all the strips and taking care of the website by myself. When Jim parted, it was on good terms, and we still talk today.
So, here I am, still drawing and writing and creating. Fenix Gear is coming along even better than I expected with awesome responses and great experiences. Do I have bigger plan's for Fenix Gear in the future? Maybe. Only time can tell. In the meantime, if you keep reading, I'll keep writing. Enjoy the site, and thank you again for reading; it means the world to me.
